Each month is linked to a birthstone, in May, emerald is celebrated. Its name, inherited from the Greek Máragdos and Persezamarat, meaning “heart of stone”, already evokes its ancient and sacred power.

Present in Babylon as early as the 2nd millennium BC, emeralds were used as currency and as a talisman. In ancient Egypt, it decorated the jewelry of the powerful, extracted from the mines of Jebel Zabarah, long called “Cleopatra's mines”.

A symbol of regeneration, emerald embodies the healing of body, mind and soul. The secret stone of alchemists, it once carried the secrets of Hermès, engraved on the legendary Emerald Table. In Christian traditions, it becomes “the pope's stone”, while for Native American peoples, it embodies spring renewal and fertility.

Emerald also celebrates forty years of union: the emerald wedding anniversary, symbol of lasting, serene and luminous love.

The Creator's Word

“By its color, emerald symbolizes peace. Life, on the other hand, is represented by its veins, which are sometimes called “shrubs”. Thanks to the inclusions visible under the microscope, it looks like a miniature garden. It is a stone that soothes and connects with the earth. It is naturally associated with firestones, with intense colors such as yellow and orange. Its hues and shades vary according to their country of origin: green changes subtly, and the density of the inclusions makes it possible to recognize their origin. A fragile stone, emerald also embodies the fragility of life, influenced by the environment. It reflects the precious link between man and nature, which is essential to preserve, just like the Earth itself. A sensitive and delicate stone, if you don't pay attention to it, it breaks... just like life.”
